Yet another problem with my newly acquired Sirocco, is that that the actuating cylinder has been rubbing on the inside of the access panel (since 1982!), so much that the cylinder has worn away and now leaks. It is the weight of the cylinder which causes the tie rod to rotate until it rests on the hatch. Also, I notice that the ball joints at each end of the tie rod have been mounted below rather than above the rudder 'horns' which leaves the tie rod and cylinder low enough to rest on the hatch.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was your remedy?
