We are new to the Association but have owned our Snowgoose Elite for nearly 15 years . We are based in the Solent ( near Calshot ) and currently cruise the south coast and Channel.
However in the next couple of years we want to take her down to the Med and are trying to work out if this is possible with an Elite.
We are about to start pouring over Michael's Books and all the other info about the canals to see if we can fit into the locks and under the bridges but thought we would throw out the question to see if any other Elites had already made it through.
Recent projects have included:
--New Engine ( Mitsubishi 4 cyl) Gearbox HBW125 and Leg ( new one that does not whine
!!)--New Fridge ( water cooled from Penguin )
-- Solar Panel ( Brilliant 100W units )
-- Istabreeze 500 wind generator ( total rubbish ...died within a month so due to be replaced with ????? , cant afford an Air Breeze so ????)
-- Fixed window leaks by stiffening the front panel with a small foam filled GRP box section
-- Roller staysail using a sailspar drive drum married to a Tab foil ( great job by one of my friends to make up a special flange)
-- slowly replacing all the headlining a bit each winter
Next projects are :
-- New Cushions etc
-- New " funky" oval table to make it easier to move around it .ideas on this welcome!!
