storm jib, trisail for Snowgoose in heavy weather?

Hi folks, I am the new owner of Prout Snowgoose 'Shamali' in Sydney Australia, setting her up for an exteneded sail North to the Great Barrier Reef in a couple of weeks time; and then who knows where. Maybe into the Pacific or up North of New Guinea.
Can anyone please advise on the best rig for heavy weather? I have been thinking about fnding a suitable size storm jib to hank onto the inner forestay and a trisail for the main - but this is from my monohull background. Rather than find out from my on mistakes I hope I can learn from your experiences.
