Mast angle

Post by MORA »

After replacing the shrouds, my 1990 Snowgoose 37 Elite has raised the bow and now the difference is about 7 centimeters, measured on the waterline. So now the benches in the cockpit next to the winches do not drain the water! I wondered if this could be caused by a wrong inclination of the tree. But I do not know what the reference value should be. thanks for any help.

There is some information if you do a search of earlier posts at "Standing Rigging". The mast on a Prout should be at right angles to the water line, straight up without any pre-bend. After measuring and getting it straight up Starboard to Port by adjusting the upper shrouds, measure the right angle of the mast to the waterline or bootstrap and adjust the backstays & forestay to suit. There is some more information in a manual I left in Dropbox with address in another post.
