Prout Sirocco staysail

Dear group
I have a Prout Sirocco 26 ft which has a small staysail. Looks like it is supposed to fit to a track but the sail shape is totally wrong for this and when used to make it look in anyway right I have attached the sheet to anything at the back of the boat. Very small sail and I doubt it has any real effect. Anyone got this sail to be worthwhile and where do you take the sheet said ?
