Purchasing 1982 Snowgoose

Post by Boatguy30 »

Hello-

I have a counter-counter-offer pending on a 1982 Snowgoose. It appears it's somewhat different than even the 1983 model I've seen pictures of in that there is no liner in the forward part of the head on port hull and the bulkheads extend to the deck on both side of the saloon on the bridgedeck. Also no proper shower it appears. There seems to be less info available online about the various versions that I would have thought. The boat is really basically equipped, but a lifetime freshwater boat and really in great shape for a 1982. Any advise or "schooling" would be appreciated. We had good friend with a Manta 38 Ocean Breezes that they sailed from the Med to NZ. That boat was super overloaded and our 35' mono-hull was faster in all conditions over the 8,000 miles we sailed together, but I understand the Snowgoose non elite is supposed to be the best sailing Prout. I mainly plan coast sailing in Eastern US and Bahamas for next several years anyhow. May sail to NZ in a few years though!
Cheers,
Jeff
