Remodelling Escale Interior

Does anyone out there know how Prout Escales were put together.
I have a playpen version (large double berth forward of the settee).
I am thinking about removing a forward section of the settee to join the saloon and playpen together - I think some escales had a lifting section?
I wondered what effect on the structural integrity would be....
