Just joined this forum and looking to give a snapshot of where we are.
Bought our Prout 37 Elite here in Brisbane last year, after sailing monohulls previously.
She was we believe built here in Brisbane in 1989, as part of a dozen or so aussie Prouts, (any history of these is appreciated) sold to owners in Fremantle in the west and ended up with a Melbourne couple who lived on board and cruised for approx 10 years.
She was languishing in Newport Waters marina at Redcliff, here in Brissy when we found her, and after doing some research which included finding this forum we decided she was well worth giving a good home to.
Currently re-engined and with lots of electrical and assorted upgrades we currently have her on a pontoon in an estate near us, and try to get away when we can. Mostly for now just trips around the lovely Moreton Bay Brisbane is blessed with, although we are planning longer trips and the almost inevitable take off and just cruise. Ill post a few pics when we get organized, and are happy to share what info we have and no doubt will ask the odd question ourselves.
for now regards to all...Amanda........

G'day Amanda
we purchased our prout 37 Snowgoose elite "Shamali" in April this year in Sydney. She was built in Brisbane by Bryon Perry in about 1993/94. So she is probably a sister ship to yours. On our way through Brisbane we spent about a week or so parked in Newport waters marina at Scarborough only a couple of months ago.
We have taken a year off from our home base on the NSW far south coast (just north of Eden) to go sailing. We have now been living aboard and cruising the east coast for about five months so far and Shamali has proven to be a really great cruising platform and our confidence is building as we experience different sea conditions - she can probably handle pretty much anything and it is ourselves who are the weak link.
We are currently at Magnetic island off Townsville and will be heading north next week towards Lizard Island north of Cooktown and will then probably turn south and let the northerlies blow us back down the coast ahead of the cyclone season. So we may well be down around Brisbane again by about December. Would be happy to have a mini Prout Snowgoose rendezvous then if convenient. It would be good to swap notes and experiences.
cheers

Hi there......It would be great to raft up somewhere and compare notes etc.
Tomorrow I am heading to the Gold Coast with my partner, some work but ostensibly to look at composite gas bottles and a kayak at a shop down there. Perry catamarans is next to where we are going so think that is the builder and plan to ask a few questions. Slowly finding out more about her as we go along.
After being laid off in last november's panic I have mainly worked from home doing building design and drafting. The thought to say bugga it and take off has crossed our minds, but still need a few dollars spent on "Boots" to have her as we want her. Definitely will be though by early next year its a promise!!!!
We have friends currently moored at Airlie beach, friends just buying a 32 foot Cat that live at Elliot Heads and others we met at Tin Can Bay where we bought our previous monohull.
Take care and enjoy............
