drag mounting
Have you considered ubolts through the bows? Well backed up of course. Honestly, I haven't given any thought to this kind of mounting, but I wonder if that location would improve the boat's performance, not attempting to bury the bows in a large seaway. Any thoughts?

dddb?
Thanks for the post. Until I read the above, I had not even heard of the DDDB. How do you plan on deploying the chute? Have you backed up the cleats on the bows and attached rollers?

old Prout installed items
Have been trying to assemble what is factory and what is aftermarket on our Prout Quest. Also, what instrumentation have you replaced or newly installed? Anyone keep their old instruments? I have Stowe Nav 2 and have been attempting to accumulate spares. Anyone doing the same? Anyone with manuals? I...

less noisy rudders
Hello, Although I didn't install the system on my rudders, I can vouch for the quietness of the installation. The whole idea is to put tension on the linkage. Each rudder has an eyebolt installed at a solid point near the trailing edge. They attach to each other utilizing a multistand line with one ...

Pictures of Grace
George and Doris, Liked the pictures. I'm always comparing and learning ways of doing things on Prouts. Is the lever above the starboard rudder the emergency tiller? Was there a stove ever installed? Why did you remove the rv a/c? The hatches in the cockpit floor, where do they go? I REALLY liked th...

composting heads or is that decomposing?
Hello Chris, I installed an AirHead composting head. It is a small liquid separating head that uses peat or coconut husks to help in drying. The liquids get dumped every couple of days and the "compost" every month with 2X daily use, or once a season with weekend use. I find that utilizing...

Projects, projects, projects.....
February is quickly passing and the weather in NC may break at any time.. time to start on the most pressing of projects. SunStar 2 will be the recipient of number of important upgrades. I have always been disappointed with our DC system. So this winter I have been slowly and quietly purchasing elec...

holed?
George, I hope your not talking about your Snowgoose! Are there flotation compartments at the ends of your hulls? My Quest has glassed in flotation and I hope that with the cored deck and maybe even some additional buoyancy from the water tankage if they are sealed well and not totally full will hel...

Prout registry and other musings
Hello all, just became a "member" of the ProutCats group on yahoo. There seemed to be some chatter, but couldn't view any threads without becoming a "member". It doesn't appear to have much to offer other than some spam. I found few recent threads. So, I wonder if anyone else has...

What is wrong with yours? I would think $4500 would go a long way to fixing whatever is wrong with your existing drive unit.

staysail
Hi Chris, Are you referring to a storm staysail or just a sail made for the inner triangle formed by the stay attached to the cabin top? I have an original staysail from Jeckells. In fact in some conditions I have increased speed 1/2 knot. On the whole it allows me to point almost 10 degrees closer ...

water infiltration from rear engine hatch?
Chris, Are you saying that with a heavy rain, the water level on the aft end will get so high that it can food into the engine compartment? I haven't been onboard when it has rained that hard. Didn't realize that the level could get that high.

When I get down to the boat I'll take a picture of mine. Although it is a Quest, they might have used the same mast mfgr and design.

Water in nacelle?
It has happened again. Rained the past few days and my nacelle has filled up under the salon. (or is that saloon?) I can't seem to find an obvious place where the water is coming in. Certainly not from overhead. Maybe from the mast step? Is the nacelle open all the way to the engine compartment? May...

Prout powered by?
We've lost the thread about Prouts with outboards.... so I'll open this up to all users. Please tell me what power unit you have. I have a 1980 Quest 31 with a Bukh DV20 with Sillette drive.
