Re: Quest 31 Sillette-Sonic Auto Lock
Gerry, I spoke to Sillette about the autolock for our Sonic drive and it turns out that if you have the older design it won't fit.. so depending on how old yours is the auto-lock may not fit. (ours is one of the original Mk2 drives put on the Prouts with a locking mechanism which Prout designed or s...

Re: Quest 31 Sillette-Sonic Auto Lock
Gerry, I am currently looking into changing our very old Sillette (1983) with the original manual locking mechanism to the "new" auto lock. The manual lock works fine, but on our boat the set-up is such that your foot can press the 33C cable which causes the lock to unlock! With the new au...

Re: watertanks in the keel
Hi,
We re-did our fresh water tanks by cutting extra hatches (we now have 3) into them and then repainting with food safe epoxy.

Re: chocking up a snowgoose to work on the keels
We have done repairs on our keels and have simply blocked her up as you would normally, fixed the parts of the keel we could get to, then shift the blocks over. The shifting of the blocks was done by using a car jack and a metal plate - this allowed us to lift up one side of the boat and shift the b...

Bow Thruster on a Snowgoose
Hi, We are going to be installing a bow thruster on GERU and are looking for some information from other owners of Snowgeese on how theirs work for them. In searching the web I have a found a few boats that have them installed, but no information on which ones were installed or how well they work. (...

I would suggest you give Sillette a shout - they have some of the best technical support I've ever had. The phone number is on their website.

Re: Rub Rail
Tom,
We haven't replaced the rub rail yet.. we are still in the middle of moving thru-hulls up (bilge) and redoing the bottom. The boat has been sandblasted, she is currently drying out in the cold. Next will be the fairing and sanding. I don't think we'll get to the rub rail until the fall.

Waterline on Snowgoose 37
We just removed all the anti-fouling from our Snowgoose and were surprised to find a bootstripe, so I'm wondering if this is where the factory normally put the waterline as we've seen other boats with the waterline even higher than ours. So where is your waterline? Geoff (SVGeru) https://sites.googl...

I'll reply here so all have the information:
Our Snowgoose 37 has all but one of the stays slightly larger than 9/32" and one slightly smaller than 9/32"

Re: Prout modifications and photos
We have an Adler Barbour 12V unit which worked wonderfully while we spent two years down south. It has water cooling which I never got around to hooking up.

Re: house battery location quest
For your solar panels why not mount them on deck? Our Large panel is centered, with two more either side (you can just see the edge of one), and a flexible right up against the mast. George & Doris,
Glad to see the dream is still alive.
I know when our mast was replaced they up-sized the rigging (as we have one shroud smaller than the others!). Send me an e-mail if you would like me to check what ours are.
