Re: Mast angle
There is some information if you do a search of earlier posts at "Standing Rigging". The mast on a Prout should be at right angles to the water line, straight up without any pre-bend. After measuring and getting it straight up Starboard to Port by adjusting the upper shrouds, measure the r...

Re: rpm in reverse with a sonic leg
Hello John. I am assuming you are speaking of engine RPM. If you have a Sillette Type 2 Catamaran Drive, it should be able to handle your engine's highest speeds. The difference of forward and reverse is probably all in the control & linkage mechanism which can be adjusted. I have never had the ...

Re: sail drive
Hello Tony. I think your boat would have a Sonic Type 2 Catamaran Drive made by Sillette in the UK. Their web page is https://www.sillette.co.uk/index.html Their web page has a download tab where you can find information to download. I find that drive very sturdy and robust and unless severely abuse...

1996 Prout Snowgoose 37 Elite for sale in Malaysia
As I am entering another stage in life, I have decided to sell my Prout catamaran. I have lived aboard and traveled around with her for 11 years and feel that it is still in reasonable good shape as I've kept up the maintenance and replacement of equipment regularly myself. It has the tall sport rig...

Re: Prout water tanks
If your suction pipe isn't deep enough, use a short piece of hose with I.D. slightly smaller than that pipe. Cut a small length, soften it with hot water and slide it over the pipe. Then cut it off at desired distance from the tank bottom. When it cools, it will stay in place firmly. I have a 37 Eli...

Re: Heaving to with a Snowgoose 37 Elite
Hello, I made a mistake and told you mine was 18 feet in diameter. Sorry, mine is 15 feet. It is recommended that the diameter be as wide as the beam of the boat. Mine is a little smaller. I have a two-legged bridal at one end of my stretchy rode and attach one leg to each bow cleat. Sometimes I bri...

Re: Heaving to with a Snowgoose 37 Elite
Hello, I also own a Snowgoose 37 and I carry an 18 ft diameter parachute sea anchor with 400 ft of stretchy braided line and rig everything so I can deploy it from the cockpit. It takes time to really get used to deploying and retrieving but is very rewarding to have in an emergency or just waiting ...

Re: Satellite telephones
Hello Michael, I have been using an Iridium 9505 sat phone with modem connected to my laptop using Sailmail and it has worked nearly flawlessly. To save airtime usage, I log on once a day downloading new emails & uploading earlier composed emails. Later, I answer and compose more emails off-line...

Re: Snowgoose37 hydraulic steering system data
Further to some steering info posted to "Prout37 Steering", I add this extra information: Some time ago, on my Prout 37 Elite, the cross link between the rudders broke. It was a clean break where it had been welded together near to the pad-eye that the hydraulic steering ram connects to. T...

Re: Prout37 steering
My Prout 37 Elite was originally fitted with an 8 inch stroke steering cylinder that took 3-1/2 turns 'lock to lock' resulting in 25.6 degrees maximum rudder angle. I had to replace that cylinder and because an 8 inch wasn't available, I fitted a 7 inch stroke cylinder which now requires 4-1/2 turns...

Re: Permanent removal of headliner
I have asked many people, searched & read about this at other sites and have come up with an answer. First, if Prout Catamarans, as professional as they were had thought this was a good idea they would have done it themselves. Unless one has a very good reason, one must not change things that al...

Prout manual for 34, 37 & 39 models
I have an Prout operation manual that includes the 34, 37 & 39 models. I scanned it but it is very large at 32 MB. I am usually very broadband challenged so I've broken it into four parts to make transmission easier. Even at 7 to 9 MB a part, I would have a difficult time sending from my present...

Permanent removal of headliner
I am presently removing and resealing mounting bolts for grab rails, tracks, dodger, cleats, etc. on my 20 year old 37ft Elite. Although no big problem taking down sections of vinyl head liner that's backed with plywood and reinstalling, I am just wondering if anyone has ever just removed all those ...
